For the 7th dp+ photo challenge with theme Some Kind of Bride photo - without photo manipulation - once again, there were 5 people comprising the panel of judges - 4 members and 1 administrator.

Member judges were Sallie Tumlison, Chito Francisco, Borj Meneses and Osler Ladia. Administrator judge is Gina Villanueva-Uyan acting as the main facilitator.

For photo challenge 7 theme is Some Kind of Bride photo. Winner by Popular Votes Pick is an entry by Zandro Cenizal with 52 votes. Camilo Corpuz a.k.a Kamilovich Karpov, on the other hand, won the dp+ Pick with the following as judges: Sallie Tumlison, Borj Meneses, Chito Francisco, Osler Ladia and Gina Villanueva-Uyan.

For the Popular Votes Pick, Zandro Cenizal won at 52 votes while Camilo Corpuz' entry ranked 4th at 40 votes. For the dp+ Pick where Camilo Corpuz' entry was picked as top choice by 3 judges, Zandro Cenizal's entry was chosen as 3rd Pick by one judge ranking at 7th Place.

Joy is a picture

The month of July is the Happiness Happens Month and the Admit You're Happy Month. So for our 9th photo challenge, our theme is "happiness captured". It is expression of happiness, joy, felicity, bliss framed in a single shot.


Happiness or joys in life have many sources. It can come from achievement, love, material gain, fame, security, contentment and success among other things. It doesn't matter what the source what matters here is how joyful moments are captured and that they are captured creatively, well done technically and presenting a high impact general impression.

17 July 2012 marks dp+ first year anniversary. Originally a Friendster group in 2007, many developments occurred since Digital Photography Plus' inception as a Facebook group on July 17, 2011. Here are our first year milestones:

1. dp+ group site members - 1,069 members
It should be noted that in the latter half part of dp+ 11 months existence as an Facebook group, most of the addition to the group came from voluntary membership and addition to the group by dp+ members. Only a few became members through invites from dp+.

2. Number of Likes on dp+ official Facebook site - 737 Likes

There were only 2 entries that were picked by 3 judges as part of their top 3 choices. The remaining entries were picked only once by all the other judges. In effect only 2 entries vied for the dp+ Pick, Entry 5 by Fidel Fernandez and Entry 2 by Camilo Corpuz.

Fidel Fernandez' entry was picked as top choice 2 times and top 2 pick once. Camilo Corpuz, on the other hand, got picked as top choice 3 times gathering a total score of 293/500 over Fernandez' 281/500.

Remark: The photo is "all about the bride", though it tells a thousand stories. I love how the picture has captured the moment. Unconventional but beautiful.

Judge 4

Remark: This is such a fun magical moment captured by the camera. I love the look on the subject's face and the smiles from friends and family. The bride is definitely the center of attention.
The facial expression shown is only a hint of the joy to come in the bride's life.

Judge 5
Remark: It is not everyday that you see a bride being lifted like so to the amazement of the crowd. Though there were other elements, it is obvious that it is still the bride who is the center of attention. I love the triumphant look on the bride's face. It was an extraordinary bride photo where the moment was captured magnificently.

This entry placed 4th in the Popular Votes Pick with 40 votes. It is where dp+ members vote through Likes and the most number of like votes wins. dp+ Popular Votes Pick winner entrant Zandro Cenizal gathered 52 votes and ranked 7th in dp+ Pick with 83/500 points.


Several factors were considered by the judges in picking their top 3 choices and they are:
1. it must be centered on the bride
2. it should not be the typical bride photo and should be exceptional in the way we don't get to see a bride photo like it
3. it should not put the bride in a bad light, it should be a celebration of the bride as brides ought to be celebrated.


Considering all the parameters of the theme set at the onset of this photo challenge, this entry is a hands down winner. Great capture, bride-centered, unconventional in approach but beautiful bride nevertheless. You nailed it, Camilo Corpuz, congratulations!
